Faith is often central to who we are as people, but sometimes our lived experience and our beliefs can feel at odds with one another. As a Christian counselor, I enjoy helping individuals wrestle through how to hold fast to their faith, while experiencing the brokenness that may be challenging some of their core beliefs.
I personally am a Christian that believes in Jesus as my Lord and Savior and also believe the Bible to be inerrant. Not everyone who I work with that considers faith to be important or even identifies as a Christian hold to these similar beliefs. I work with my clients to understand the nuances of their belief and I am especially well-versed in the historic Christian faith.
I am not a Biblical counselor but rather I integrate evidence-based therapies into my counseling work from a Christian perspective, which may include using the Bible or prayer. As much as is appropriate to my clients' presenting concerns, I integrate faith into my work with my clients. I have found that addressing mental health concerns through the lens of one's faith and spiritual beliefs can often be crucial to helping individuals experience relief from their symptoms and be able to move towards healing and a sense of wholeness.
